Heat Pump Installation in Surrey
Most Surrey homes were built from the 1980s onward, and many of them are large, two-storey houses with a gas furnace, full ductwork, and often a basement suite. That makes Surrey well suited to ducted and dual fuel heat pumps, with ductless units for suites that need their own control. We plan and install heat pumps from Guildford to South Surrey.
Common Surrey setups
- Two-storey home with a gas furnace and central AC. When the AC is near the end of its life, replacing it with a heat pump gives you cooling plus efficient heating on the same ducts. Pairing it with the furnace (dual fuel) keeps gas as backup.
- Upstairs that’s too hot in summer. Big homes often have one furnace serving both floors, which leaves the upper floor overheating. A ducted heat pump with zoning, or a ductless head upstairs, can fix it.
- Basement or coach-house suites. Separate ductless systems give tenants their own control and keep their heating costs off your bill. Separate metering depends on your electrical setup.
- Newer townhouse complexes. Compact ductless or slim-duct systems, subject to strata rules.
What we check in Surrey homes
- Sizing for large floor areas. An oversized system short-cycles and leaves rooms clammy. We size from a heat-load calculation, not from the old furnace’s rating.
- Duct layout. Long runs to bonus rooms over garages are a frequent cold spot. We balance airflow so the far rooms get heat too.
- Electrical capacity. Homes with suites, EV chargers or hot tubs may be close to their panel limit. We check before quoting.
- Outdoor unit placement. Side yards in newer subdivisions are narrow. We keep units away from neighbours’ windows and off low spots where water collects.
Rebates and costs
Surrey homes heated by gas may qualify for dual fuel heat pump offers. Suites or homes on electric baseboards may qualify for provincial heat pump rebates. Start with the BC heat pump rebate guide and the heat pump cost guide.
Our installation process
- Site visit with heat-load calculation, duct and panel check
- Written quote with model numbers, electrical scope, permits and warranty
- Installation, usually one to two days for a ducted system
- Commissioning in heating, cooling and defrost, plus thermostat setup
- Warranty registration and help with rebate paperwork
